France Télévisions is gearing up with Stage Racer 2
France Télévisions recently acquired 5*Stage Racer 2, all 24 SDI versions with full trunk capabilities allowing 160GBps of bandwidth in and out with just 4 singlemode duplex fibers.
3 of them got installed in one of their Toulouse OB Van and 2 in one Strasbourg OB Van.
The main reasons France Télévisions decided to trust Ereca with the Stage Racer 2 are:
– “Decrease in the number of transmission electronics in each location.”
Stage Racer 2 packs 24 SDI, 2 IP, 2 Serial, 1 Genlock, 2 AES + 1 MADI, 8 GPIO, 16 Analog Audio, 64ch of AoIP and a coming 4*10G ST2110 links, all in a single 1RU frame.
It allows for routing, distribution, processing and soon baseband to IP conversion and back.
– “Decrease in the number of fibers between each location.”
A single Stage Racer 2 fiber trunk allows to transport 40GBps of data I/O. That’s an equivalent of 25 HD signals both ways which is sufficient in most current productions. However, in case the requirement gets bigger, it is possible to have up to 160GBps I/O using all 4 trunks.
– “Decentralised management of the entire fiber networked transport system via the built-in web interface.”
The Stage Racer 2 can be used in multiple scenarios: simple point to point transmission, ring topology, star, linear daisy chain or any combinations. This does not require are any setting or reconfiguration; simple and efficient plug’n’play system!
Note: The web management is a key functionality included in most of Ereca products.
– “Decrease in the amount of glue equipment.”
The Stage Racer 2 has built-in processing broadcast features which can be used in addition of its extended transport capabilities: embedding and de-embedding (from/to analog, digital, IP), audio shuffling and delay, frame synchronizer and more coming.
– “Strong confidence in product reliability following many years of happy usage of the Stage Racer 1 product”.
You can have a peak at two major successful events following this acquisition: The Tour de France and The European Championships.
