12 Stage Racer 2 in the 2019 Tour de France race squad
A year ago, Ereca Stage Racer 2 made its first successful appearance on the international competition of Tour de France 2018 to transport the broadcast signals between different locations.
For this new 2019 edition, the Stage Racer 2 got more responsibility on the race and the setup got bigger.
The challenge was to transport, route, distribute and process about 200 video signals In/Out + Audio Analog, AoIP, Data, IP and GPIO between four OB Vans from France Télévisions (FTV), Amauray Sport Organisation (ASO) and Euromedia.
The race squad included 12 Stage Racer 2 units installed in all 4 OB Van all interconnected in two separate networks.
– The first network was comprising of:
2 SR2, located in the FTV Lille OB in charge of creating the international signal for worldwide broadcasting.
4 SR2 were handling the signals from the MCR and the graphics in FTV Strasbourg OB.
2 SR2, located in ASO C18 OB were handling the dirty international feeds for some specific broadcasters.
All on board cameras in motorbikes, helicopters, etc and the backup international signals were managed by 2 SR2 in the Euromedia C42 OB.
– A second network with 2 SR2 units was in charge of the HF signals and other backup signals.
The load of the main network of 10 units were relatively low with less 20% bandwidth occupation per fiber between units, thanks to the high bandwidth capacity offered by each SR2 fiber trunks. Indeed one trunk is capable of 40GBs I/O and there are 4 trunks per unit making it a possible 1.6TBs I/O network in this case.
We are very proud to had the opportunity to race this 106 edition of the tour de France and we would like to thank FTV and ASO for their renewed confidence.
